Throughout my 16-year career as a public children's librarian, I have had the privilege of attending several ALA and ALSC institute conferences. These events have been invaluable for professional development and networking.

While I consider myself outgoing and confident, the prospect of traveling alone for a conference can still be daunting. It's a unique experience that often leads to personal growth and new connections.

Attending these conferences with friends can enhance the experience, providing support and shared moments that make the journey more enjoyable.
